Description

The ‘Pretty’ Road was co-commissioned by The Flynn Theatre (Burlington, VT), Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH), Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA), The Music Hall (Portsmouth, NH) and the University of Massachusetts (Amherst, MA) for its premiere in January 2006. It is recorded on Sky Blue. This piece is a flügel feature that includes trumpet and electronics delay in the middle section. We're including a recorded version without soloist so that your soloist can practice with the track. It will also help the director to find an approach to the "open-ish" section which is quite free and elastic, if they listen to that section without the soloist. We're including an MP3 version of this piece without drums, so that your drummer can practice with the ensemble. You will also be able to listen to an interview with Ingrid Jensen, the trumpet soloist on this piece. Maria's video where she discusses conducting this piece will be particularly helpful on that middle open section, which otherwise could be quite confusing.
