Recorded on Sky Blue, "Aires de Lando" was commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association Esa-Pekka Salonen, Music Director, Dianne Reeves, Creative Chair for Jazz. On February 8th, 2006, it was given its world premiere at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. This is a rather virtuosic clarinet feature. It's a multi-metered lando (a Peruvian rhythm. This includes an interview with Maria and Scott Robinson (clarinet soloist) and an interview with Jon Wikan (cajon), so that you can learn some things about Peruvian lando. I will also include the cajon tracks along with just the bass track for you to really hear what's happening inside the rhythm. You'll also get a PDF of a couple of Maria's early sketches for this piece.
