Solo feature for alto clarinet in the reed 5 part. But they can play bass clarinet, bari or instrument of choice. But this can also be an alto sax or soprano sax feature, and you then shift the clarinet backgrounds to reed 5. All solo parts are included, Eb and Bb. We have also done this as a fluegel 4 feature, moving his part to clarinet in reed 5.
5 reeds, 4 trumpets, 3 trombones, 1 bass trombone, accordion (preferable, but optional), guitar, piano, bass, and drums.
Recorded on The Thompson Fields, this instrumental version of "Walking By Flashlight" was originally composed for soprano, Dawn Upshaw, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, along with Jay Anderson, bass, Frank Kimbrough, piano, and Scott Robinson, alto clarinet. That orchestral version was recorded on Winter Morning Walks as part of the song cycle, "Winter Morning Walks" written with the beautiful poetry of American poet, Ted Kooser. Upon working with my band, I felt inspired to write an instrumental version of the third song of the cycle to feature Scott playing the tender melody on alto clarinet. It's a very simple composition, but it's now one of my favorite to play in concert.
With this offer, along with your downloadable score of "Walking By Flashlight," you'll get access to a streamed video where I talk about writing this piece, and also a video of Scott Robinson giving his perspective as a featured soloist.
