trumpet (harmon and the fluegel) solo from the 4th trumpet chair and tenor sax solo from the 3rd reed chair.
5 reeds, 4 trumpets, 3 trombones, 1 bass trombone, piano, guitar, bass, drums and optional percussion.
As the title track on our recording Allégresse, this features Reed 3 (tenor) and Trumpet 4 (Rich Perry and Ingrid Jensen). I'm sorry to say, you'll need doublers for this one.
This piece has open pedal solos for adventurous soloists and rhythm section. It's not a piece for beginning doublers, I will warn you. When you purchase this piece, you'll be able to hear (via streamed audio) from a few musicians that have played this music. These interviews are streamed for you in your account in 'media shows.' The scores and parts are also in your account as 'downloads.' The interviews should help players and directors understand how to approach the music by tapping the experience of the magnificent musicians who have shaped it to be their own over the years. I have also created a video where I go through the piece to talk about a few rehearsal details that may help you get the best results in performance.
I've added accordion parts to many of my pieces, and so I've included an optional accordion part here in case you'd be playing other music of mine with accordion and therefore have one handy to join on this piece.
